Its primary uses include adhering natural stone, porcelain, and ceramic tiles to various substrates, making it ideal for patios, pool decks, and exterior installations. This product features advanced Microtec technology that enhances flexibility and reduces the risk of cracking, ensuring that your outdoor surfaces remain stable against environmental changes.

Is Ardex X 90 suitable for freeze-thaw conditions?

Yes, Ardex X 90 is specifically formulated to be freeze-thaw resistant. This makes it an excellent choice for outdoor installations in regions that experience extreme temperature fluctuations. By using this thinset mortar, you can ensure that your stone or tile installations maintain their integrity and performance, even in harsh winter conditions. This quality is crucial for safeguarding your investment in outdoor flooring.

How do I mix Ardex X 90 for application?

To mix Ardex X 90, combine the powder with clean, cool water in a suitable mixing container. The recommended mixing ratio is typically provided on the packaging. Use a mechanical mixer to achieve a uniform, lump-free consistency. Allow the mixture to slake for about 10 minutes, then remix before use. Proper mixing ensures the thinset achieves optimal adhesion and performance during application.

Can Ardex X 90 be used for interior applications?

While Ardex X 90 is primarily designed for outdoor use, it can also be utilized for interior flooring applications, especially in areas prone to moisture. Its flexible properties and resistance to environmental stresses make it suitable for high-traffic areas within homes or commercial spaces. Using Ardex X 90 indoors ensures durability and longevity of the tile installations.

How thick can I apply Ardex X 90?

Ardex X 90 can typically be applied in thicknesses ranging from 1/16 inch to 1/2 inch, depending on the specific requirements of your flooring project. Thinner applications are ideal for a tighter bond, while thicker applications can accommodate uneven substrates. Always refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for optimal thickness and application techniques for your particular project.

What is the drying time for Ardex X 90?

The drying time for Ardex X 90 can vary depending on environmental conditions such as humidity and temperature. Generally, it sets quickly, allowing tile installation within a few hours of application. For best results, it is advisable to ensure that conditions are optimal, and to check the specific setting and curing times on the product packaging before proceeding with tile installation.

How do I clean tools and surfaces after using Ardex X 90?

To clean tools and surfaces after using Ardex X 90, it’s important to do so while the material is still wet. Use water to rinse off any excess mortar from trowels, buckets, and mixing equipment.
