    Answer: Single fire ignition only
  • Question: 86 sportster XL883??

    Answer: First, this is a single fire S&S coil which should work on the 86 XL883 but a few things have to change first. Hopefully the ignition is electronic and there is an ignition module that provide the current ignition wire to the current coil.(one wire to coil fires both cylinder at the same time (aka-wasted spark)) THIS ignition module needs to be also UPGRADE to provide TWO SEPARATE IGNITION Wires to the coil for each cylinder. There are ignition kits that will replace both the timing module that sends the timing spark to the ignition module that is sent to the coil to fire the plugs. Just a little wiring modification and you are good to go and it will make different in the way your XL performs. S&amp,S Cycle Hi-4N Ignition Kit 550-0502 and Good luck !!
