The Germ Guardian Pluggable Air Purifier & Sanitizer is designed to eliminate germs and mold with UV-C light. The device is rated to clean 456 cubic ft in one hour. An 8 x 8 x 8 room is 512 cubic ft of air and takes 1.12 hours to clean. An 12 x 12 x 12 ft room is 1728 cubit ft of air and takes 3.78 hours to clean. It's perfect for small spaces but may not be as effective in larger rooms. The Germ Guardian also works well to eliminate odor and moisture in small rooms. However, some reviewers mention that it might produce formaldehyde, a known human carcinogen. Changing the bulb is difficult, and some units might lack functionality, but others found this device helpful in controlling litter box odors.
